Astronomical evidence
GJ 504 b was detected by direct imaging. NASA's discovery visualization described a dull magenta appearance associated with retained heat, rather than Jupiter's familiar reflected-light bands. [1,2] That motivates the palette here, not a measured cloud map. Inferring mass and evolutionary state from a companion's brightness depends on age and atmospheric models; the source-linked catalog values and their uncertainty remain separate from the artwork.
